Hi my name is Jackson, and I make wood bowls.
Why do you want a wood bowl?

Natural, Renewable, and Biodegradable
Wood bowls are made from trees, and these bowls are made from trees that would’ve become firewood.

Wooden bowls retain less bacteria then their plastic counterparts.

Wooden bowls look great, and can be used just like any other bowl in your home, or can be a great decoration or display piece.
The Process
Starting with a piece of a log 
Split with an axe to create the bowl blank 
Then attach the faceplate to the bowl blank 
Once attached we can start rounding it 
Wait!! Don’t forget the safety gear 
Now we start rounding 
And keep rounding 
Sharpen the tools 
Keep rounding… 
Then we create the mortise(fancy word for hole) 
Now we can flip the bowl around and attach it to the lathe with the chuck 
Hollowing out the inside 
Now we can move on to the the cool part… 
Sanding! 
More sanding 
A bit of shellac 
Even more sanding 
Now we apply some grit paste to polish the bowl 
Applying my homemade wax mixture 
Buffing out the wax 
Another coat of wax (Carnauba) 
Now we take the bowl off of the chuck 
Apply the homemade wax to the bottom of the bowl 
Now the bowl is complete!

How are wooden bowls made?
I make wood bowls using a lathe, which spins the wood at high speeds that allows the bowl to be shaped using a bowl gouge.
What kind of wood do you use?
All the wood that I work with has been procured locally. Typically I find wood from trees that have already been cut down, and preferably free. When I pick up the wood, I usually go for shorter sections of logs, about as tall as it is thick. These pieces allow me to split the wood into bowl blanks more easily.
How to maintain a wood bowl?
When a bowl is just a display piece; dusting it often, and using a damp towel or similar should be sufficient for cleaning. If the bowl is in regular use as a container, it should be hand washed in warm (not hot) water and oiled and/or waxed every 3-6 months depending on frequency of use.
What kind of finish is applied to the bowls?
When I apply finish to bowls on the lathe, I will usually apply some kind of drying oil (flaxseed, walnut, linseed) and a wax (beeswax, carnauba, microcrystalline).
How long does it take to make a bowl?
The time it takes to make a bowl varies depending on the size and complexity of the design. A simple bowl can take a few hours, while a more complex bowl can take several days.
How do you price your bowls?
The price of a bowl depends on two important things: The first is the amount of time that I have spent making it, and the second is the end result. Time + Results = Price
